Manchester Road is a Resale Go-To
St. Louis: Yet another consignment boutique opened recently on Manchester Road, this one in Brentwood. I could easily spend an afternoon meandering from Brentwood to Lindbergh, hitting specialty resellers–and Goodwill, of course.
Jen’s Resale Boutique opened about three months ago. The mood is definitely cheerful–no doubt due to the non-stop energy of co-owner Jennifer Tobias
Even on a day she spent getting her car repaired, Jennifer bopped around the store in tall boots, black leggings, a striped dress and red jacket. She chatted non-stop while her partner, Elizabeth, hung displays.
The store is about two-thirds clothing and one-third shabby chic home goods.
As a curvy girl, I appreciated the relatively ample supply of clothing that were larger than size 12. Thrifty fashionistas know that skinny girls have the edge in resale boutiques. If you wear a 12 or above, the pickings can be pretty slim.
Jennifer does a great job styling the store, layering sweaters, shirts and jeans. There were lots of slouchy purses and plenty of boots and shoes. Jen’s style is what I would call mid-range, with clothing suitable for work or spruced-up casual events. And she pulls together creative looks, for those who aren’t sure about how to mix separates.
Prices are quite reasonable–a lovely blue wool jacket from Talbots was $25. I didn’t see any price tags over about $30 and many were well below that figure. The store takes consignments, no appointment necessary, and splits the sale price 50-50.
Jen’s Boutique is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. The store is located at 8516 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, 63144. The telephone number is 314-630-3733, the website http://www.jensresaleboutique.com.
